Volunteering

Volunteers are crucial in helping children and adults with developmental, emotional, social, and physical challenges while working with and being around horses. Their responsibilities include: Preparing riders for lessons. Providing support during mounting and dismounting. Assisting with side-walking/jogging. Maintaining the grounds Volunteers care for the horses and lead-walk horses once they get more experience (meaning that volunteers are not guaranteed that they will get to work directly with house-care during their first shift). Anyone aged 16 and over is welcome to volunteer, and no prior experience is necessary as training will be provided on-site.

Mission

Empowered by the collective support of our staff, volunteers, donors, and participants, GallopNYC provides therapeutic experiences with horses to facilitate personal development for New Yorkers with disabilities and others who benefit from our life changing programs.
We leverage the power of horses to support people in learning new life skills and to thrive within their communities and families.
