Weezy Hale: Volunteering with Greenwich House

When my sister and I were younger(ages 9-13), we played in the Greenwich House Girls Basketball League. My sister later became my coach, and last year and this year, I assistant coached a team with my friend. To become a volunteer assistant or head coach, you just need basketball experience, and you have to attend team practices every Friday and games on Saturdays(if something comes up, you can definitely miss!). Volunteering with Greenwich House has been a great experience because I get to help younger players improve while also having fun. The head coaches in the league are usually parents or former players, and they appreciate having assistant coaches, as do the players! I would definitely recommend volunteering with the league, as it is very supportive and fun while still having an element of competition!
