Special Olympics New York
Special Olympics New York allows children, youth, and adults with intellectual disabilities to play a sport, be part of a team, and compete on a level playing field. Volunteering
Volunteer roles include being event volunteers who assist at competitions or events and can start at age 13 (ages 13-15 must be accompanied by an adult). Coaching opportunities are available for volunteers at least 16 years old and involve regular physical contact and supervision of Special Olympics New York athletes.

Service Volunteers: Volunteers must be willing to commit and dedicate their day to the athletes. Jobs may include, but are not limited to: set up, athlete escorts, stagers, timers, scorekeeping, etc.
Social Volunteers: Social volunteers volunteer to cheer on athletes. Fan stations are made available at most events for volunteers to make signs or banners to add to the fun. Interns and Office assistants: Special Olympics NY is always looking for extra office work assistance.
All Service Volunteers: All Service Volunteers will undergo a brief training at the beginning of their shift from the respective Volunteer Captains and/or Sport Director at the venue. Volunteers must be willing to be flexible and prepared to be on their feet all day.
